Heikki Sorsa Big In Japan
To help keep the positive vibe for many of us, as we wait to experience a powder turn for the first time this season, check out Redbullsnowboarding.com. They have a couple of behind the scenes videos of their team trip to Japan.
Powder and Japan just seem to go hand in hand.

The Hang
I was reminded by a wise man yesterday that it is not just about the shred conditions it's about "the hang". So keep that in mind when your buddy asks what the snow is like this season.Kevin Griffin enjoying the hang and the Blackcomb park.

Scott Serfas Exhibition
Friday night in Vancouver was a great night if you wanted to see some world class snowboard, surf and travel photography. As legendary photographer Scott Serfas had a one night only exhibition. Everything was there from back in the day Mt Seymour photos to his latest TWS cover. Nice work Scott.Check the Endeavor news for more images of the night.

SITW Report Whistler Opening 08
It may of only been a day earlier for Whistler this season but the crew was stoked as they strapped in for the first run of a new season. A large group of die hard shredders set the alarm early so they could claim some first tracks, while everyone else on the hill was just stoked to be shredding again.
If you build it they will line up. Early season jib park at Whistler.
LNP was up shredding and paid respect to the legend that is Bowie.

This is what your base looked like if you ventured into the minefield.

Sorry Number 2
Another fun day, another bad quality photo. Blackcomb opened today to join it's buddy Whistler. There was powder to be had but it was mixed with rocks so any venture beyond the norm added a few battle scars to your base. Much better photos to come.

Sorry
But Whistler opening day was way to much fun. Here is a crap cell phone pic until I get home and upload a full collection. Blackcomb joins Whistler with open status tomorrow. We are shredding again so make sure you say hey if you see a SITW sticker.

A Lucid Dream
The Vans snow team and photographer Ian Ruhter combined a couple of years ago to create the movie A Lucid Dream. This film kind of flew under the radar as it was free with a magazine and was not your normal style shred flick.
It was all created using manipulated still images to give the photos a life and a 3D feel of their own, as if a magazine had come alive. This is a must see for anyone who appreciates a creative view to snowboarding or photography. You can still get the film on iTunes and I am sure your shred film buddy will have a copy somewhere in his collection.

Peter Saville
Arkitip Magazine issue 49 will be under the guidance of Peter Saville. Now you might say I know I am a graphic designer. Or you might say what the hell does this have to do with snowboarding?
Well apart from creating some of the iconic artwork for New Order and Joy Divison record covers back in the day. He is also responsible for many of the board graphics and outerwear prints of the new DC snow line.

Justin Bennee
Now this guy has style, while poking around the new Nike Snowboarding site I came across a bio video of Justin. The video even has a cameo from the infamous J2. Can't wait to see what he can do when he ventures past the city limits. Hit the hair cut to check the video.

His part in Optimistic from 2007 is a fine example of style meeting concrete and steel.

Realms Ep 2
Now the Realms is all over the place this season which is great. What I like about this episode is how Tj talks about sponsor changes and getting dumped. He points out that even with all the coverage in the world you aren't safe from budgets. That's a god lesson kids save those dollar bills.

If you are shredding Keystone today go ride with Tj and other Realm team members. The Snowboard Realms community is a better way to make friends than some weirdo from Myspace hitting you up.

Party Snake Premier

On Friday night a storm hit Vancouver and not the type that brings snow. The storm that descended on the Croatian club in Vancity was in the form of a hurricane named the Party Snake. With an all ages venue, 800 plus confirmed on Facebook before hand and the screening of Stack Footy, All Day Everyday and See What I See you knew it was going to be a big night.
Security was stressed as capacity was reached with 1500 odd shredders looking to party and support their fellow snowboarders. Monster flowed making the floor a huge slip and slide (the over 19's got to add booze to the mix) and the crew bro'd down while cheering for their buddies on the big screen.
The Party Snake film may not have the big guns in production value or the big names, but it is a group of shredders who made the effort with no money to show how stoked on snowboarding they are. Plus they like to party so all credit to them for bringing snowboarders together.
